Which protocols are supported by SMS Submit?

CIMD2, HTTP, SMPP, SMTP (e-mail) and UCP.

How can I receive SMS?

We offer different possibilities depending on which protocol is preferred. Please note that sending and receiving of messages can be done via different protocols.

CIMD2, UCP and SMPP: Messages are delivered via the operations available in the respective protocol.

HTTP: We send a HTTP POST request to a URL provided by the customer. The parameters sent are described in the HTTP specification.

SMTP: Messages are delivered via e-mail to a specified address.

How long messages can I send?

An SMS can normally include 160 characters. If a longer message is sent to SMS Submit it will be split into multiple SMS which will be re-assembled into a long message by the phone/terminal. This is called "concatenated SMS".

Actually a SMS is up to 1.120 bits which corresponds to 160 7-bit characters, 140 8-bit characters (binary SMS) or 70 UCS-2 characters (Unicode). So, the number of parts needed for the message depends on the type of message content.

Please note that each SMS is charged meaning that one long message will cost more than one SMS.

What is the capacity of SMS Submit?

SMS Submit handles up to 50 messages per second, or 180.000 messages per hour.
